Before And After Failure

After..

I should have taken a “Before-I-Trimmed-The-Trees” picture, but I didn’t. I didn’t think the change would be so drastic. Above is an ‘after’. Before, you almost couldn’t even see the yard. The poincianna (sp?) tree near the middle was twice as big, covering the area to the left, and was practically touching the porch where I’m stnding to take the pic. Out of the frame to the left, there were two (three maybe?) small mango trees that I cut down. They were weird, scrawny trees, that reached out oddly for the light, covering the cactus bed, the round  circle of rocks thing on the left. Another practically covered The Jamaica Apple tree in the lower left corner.

In the picture, you still can’t even see our back fence. The trees on the property behind ours reach way over the fence and steal the sun from my wifes’ screen house, (that shed looking thing). I’m going to trim those as well. A lot. They’re mostly nasty, scrubby trees with thorns. It will be a rough job, almost guaranteed to scratch me and make me bleed. Don’t care, I’ll get it done. If it ever stops raining. Then the picture above will be the “Before” pic in my upcoming after I trimmed the back trees pic. You’ll be able to plainly see the fence after that.

It’s supposed to rain all week, I predict this rain will move away and create another tropical weather system that will head north. Hopefully not a hurricane, but probably a tropical storm. That’s my prediction.

The wordpress App has practically totally quit working for me. Images fail to upload. I don’t know what happened. Maybe I’ll uninstall and reinstall it, see if that does any good.

Have a great day! And stay dry!

Treehacker

Yesterday, between rainstorms, I neatly trimmed the heck out of our trees. in the back and side yards.

I really like the pole trimmer/electric chainsaw I bought.

My pole saw, the saw comes off, and becomes a chainsaw

We, (the wife helped, even running the chainsaw!) really opened up the back yard to more light, and neatened up the yard a lot! And there’s still lots to do.

I know you lumberjacks out there are saying, “That’s not a chainsaw, it’s a little toy!” Well, it gets the job done, and I was originally planning on getting a big ‘ol gas chainsaw, but gas engines, when they sit around, tend to not start and need a lot more maintenance than electrics. Plus, I’ll hopefully only need it once a year. I’m happy with the one I got!

Here, it’s very rainy, with rain expected all week. It rained a lot yesterday.

Now I gotta go make my lunch, and get ready for work. Have a great week!

Issac: One To Watch

Tropical Storm Issac, soon to be Hurricane Issac, is headed our way, looks like.

The WordPress App is giving troubles again. I’m posting thiss from the browser. I don’t know what happened. Images won’t upload, it also says the post failed to upload, when indeed it did.

Now I’m going to go chainsaw some tree limbs!

Have a great Sunday!

Productive Nice Saturday

Today, I mowed the yard, the architect came buy and has started the quote for the plans for the ‘under-room’. After that we went and I bought an electric chainsaw/ pole trimmer. The chainsaw can go on the end of a long pole, for reaching high branches.

We also had lunch at Seve Mile Burgers, a new burger place.

It was quite good, I had a burger and fries, then ordered another burger. My wife says you can tell a good burger when yu don’t have to add anything, no ketchup, mustard or mayo, it’s good just the way they serve it. This was the case.

We did some gocery shopping and came home, and I found out I needed “Bar and Chain Oil” for the chain on the chainsaw, so we had to run back to town and decided to take Sheba for the ride.

Sheba loves a ride in the car.!

Tonight it’s steaks on the grill and tomorrow, major tree trimming.

Have a great evening!

Half a Storm

This morning to the east was crystal clear, no haze, no clouds, the crescent moon looked extremely sharp and clear, much better than normal.

To the west was the opposite, huge thunderhead clouds, bright lightning and loud thunder.

I took Sheba on my walk/swim this morning, and made her “Stay!” on the end of the dock while I swam.

Then we came back and I showered, dressed, made coffee and out on the back porch to post and saw the above rainbows. I say rainbowS because there were really two, and the almost make a complete arch across the sky.

Yesterday, as you may have read, started off yukky, but after a great beach lunch I felt much better. Today, I feel much better, and it’s FRIDAY!!!!!

Have a great weekend!

Too Lazy

Got up this morning, went for my run/swim, Sheba (our dog) ususally wants to come with me, but not this morning. Too lazy.

I need to make my lunch, but I just can’t seem to be able to. Too lazy.

I’m trying to post a post but it’s very difficult and I can’t think of anything. Too lazy.

I’m going to work, but I really really don’t wanna. To lazy.

I’m too lazy today, Sheba’s too lazy, as far as I can tell, everyones too lazy.

Let’s just cancel the day today, and go tomorrow.

Yesterday Wasn’t Bad

I thought yesterday was going to be a lot worse than it was. I saw the new architect, and it went well I like the guy. And I got my modem replaced so now I have internet again. Both were much less painful than anticipated.

Yesterday morning, I thought yesterday was going to be hell day.

I called the phone company, told them my new modem wasn’t working, The receptionist, (who I’ve been talking to quite a lot he last few days, she’s the good one.) said she’d call the tech and call me back. She called back, said bring the modem in, but don’t go in the front door go around to the side where the trucks are ask for so-and-so. So-and-So. I went, and So-and-So took my modem in the back, and in a half hour with the modem (a modem) all programmed and ready to go.

Why couldn’t thaat have been done last Friday? Or Saturday? Also the room was FULL of modems. I knew they had modems in the store! On the phone, they seemed to say that the planest modems only existed on the technicians truck.

I got home and made a nice little wood and brass thingy to hold the modem.

That’s my WiFi access code in the tape, so you’ll have it when you come over.

So now all is well. And it’s time for me head off to work.

Have a great day!

Stupendous Disappointment

I am sick with disappointment about my internet still being down since Friday.

After repeated calls, I finally got a new modem yesterday afternoon, It was bad. I’ll be taking it back today. Couldn’t log on to access the settings, couldn’t connect to the internet with a computer plugged directly into the modem. All the lights worked though, it looked fine, as long as you didn’t try to use it!

Today I’m meeting with a new architect, starting from scratch. The old architect ripped me off completely.

Does anyone else have this much difficulty whenever they try and do anything? Is it me?

Had a good run/swim this morning. I think my foot’s back to normal.

I’ll post this when I get to work, where there’s wifi. Have a great day!

Internetless Weekend Plus

Our modem died Friday morning, I could tell from work because our internet cameras quit working. Got home, and the modem was dead, no power. So I took it to the phone company to get a replacement, there’s a satellite office near my house, it’s open till 7, whereas the main office closed at 5. So I stood in the long line, and when it was my turn, they told me that they didn’t have modems there, and that I could pick one up at the main store Saturday, when they opened, and in the meantime, I should call in and report a fault, because the modem would be replaced for free.

So I went back home, and reported a fault, which is very difficult, because their automated system hangs up on you several times before you actually get through. Also, a new thing, the automated system asks for your account number, located at the top of the first page of your bill, instead of your phone number. Well, I think they do that to make it more difficult to report a fault, because as far as I know, they haven’t sent bills for years, bills come as a text message and an email. I just kept enterig my phone number, over and over until finally the system transferred me to a “customer service agent”.

So, by the time I got my fault ticket number, I was thoroughly upset, angry and disgusted, like each and every time I have to call them.

Soooo the next day, I head down to the big phone company store, stood in the even longer line. Finally, it was my turn. She asked for my account number, which nobody has, acted like it was extreme hardship for her. Then I was told they didn’t have modems, only the techs in the trucks have modems.

So which one of the customer service agents was lying? Probably both. I can’t imagine them not having modems, in either store. They will say anything just to get rid of the customer.

So I made a little bit of a stink, and she got on the phone, called somebody. (Probably just holding the phone up to her ear, pretending to call somebody)… “Yeah, are you in West Bay? I got a quick modem swap, the customer has been given conflicting information. Ticket number blah blah blah.”

Then she told me that I should head home, and if I “wasn’t there when the tech called, he’d be gone.” (Exact words)

So I headed home, knowing there’d be no tech, and no call. Saturday goes by, nothing happens, my valuable and rare weekend day wasted. Around 2 PM I guess, I called and was told that I was scheduled for between 8AM and 4PM… (it was 10AM when I was in the store). At 3:55 I called back and was told that the tech works till 5, and he’d be by, or I should at least receive a call to reschedule, and she’d check on it. (Outright lie, and she knew she was lying.) I said, “So, it’s going to take 5 minutes for you to call someone, 5 minutes for them to call the tech, so I should receive the phone call in 15 minutes, right?”

She started playing dumb then, “well, it’s not me that calls the tech..? I said “I know, but it’s going to take 5 minutes for you to call someone, 5 minutes for them to call the tech, so I should receive the phone call in 15 minutes, right?” She uttered some non-comittal BS, and I said, “I’ll tell you what, I’ll call back in 30 minutes if nobody has called by then.” She was pretty much not making any sense by then, but kinda said ok and I got off the phone.

I never called back. I’d had enough bullshit for one day.

Monday, or whenever, two weeks, someone will call and expect me to drop everything, leave work, and head home to meet a tech to give me my modem. I plan on telling them to leave it at the West Bay store, where I went in the first place.

Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, at a minumim, right now. That’s four days, more than 10% of billing cycle. Think I’ll get a discount on my bill?

I’m posting this using my phone as a WiFi hotspot, using the mobile data, hope I don’t ecxeed my limit and get a stupendous bill!

Have a great day!

Photo Comments

On my phone and tablet, I keep a folder entitled ‘Photo Comments’. I use them on social media in response to other peoples posts. I find them quite handy. Unfortunately, I can’t use them on blogs, but I wish I could! I have a photo editor that I can use to add text if necessary, or, google search to find one I need, then it beccomes part of my collection. Here’s a few of my favorites:

Well, that’s more than a few.

Hard to predict the weather today, it is supposed to be rainy, but it was sunny yesterday, and looks alright so far today.

Have a great weekend!
