Like I care…

Had a fairly long online “chat” with an Ebay service agent, he veriies that the problem is at the sellers end and my ebay reputation won’t be tarnished. I don’t think I’ve used ebay in 20 years at least. Since it first started. Ebay started like an auction place, where people bid for an item online. For me, bidding never made any sense. I’d look at the time the sale ended, go there 5 minutes early, bid at the last second and take the item if the price was low enough. Now it’s more like Amazon, where you just buy it. On Ebay, I knew the sellers had ratings, but I never knew, till yesterday, that the buyers have ratings.

It’s almost the weekend, Monday is a holiday. Makes no difference with this lockdown. In the News this morning, New Zealand pretty much opened up all the businesses. People lined up all night at the hairdressers. I bet Chris is happy.

Goldie the cat seems to be doing well, he’s getting out of the cage (for the most part) today, and he’ll be a yard cat again.

Today I’m posting my first post from my new tablet, Samsung Galaxy S6. It is quite nice. The keyboard/case that Samsung made for it got quite bad reviews though and I didn’t order it. I was looking for a keyboard/case online, Amazon doesn’t ship much down here. I did find one, but weirdly it didn’t have a “Buy Now” button. I had a friend verify this on a different computer. I guess they were showing it off but not selling it. You could add it to your Amazon list, but not buy it.

So I went to ebay. lots didn’t ship here, but after a while, I found one I liked and it supposedly shipped here. Instead of buy now, it had a “commit to buy” button. I clicked it, filled in my address and when went to the next screen to pay, I was told it didn’t ship here after all.

That was it, I was stuck. End of story. Almost.

I got a message from the seller, asking if I wanted the item, saying he was going to cancel my order because I didn’t pay. I replied but haven’t heard back from him. We can’t really communicate through ebay.

Now I’m getting emails from Ebay, saying I comitted to buy the keyboard but didn’t pay the seller. And threats that my ebay account may be marked with a bad buyer rating.

I want the keyboard, and I’m trying to buy it, but Ebay won’t let me.

It’s a real pickle.

Goldie came home yesterday. He has to take medicine for the next few days and have special food for the rest of his life. That means all the outdoor cats will be getting special food. Below is a picture of him in Ashy’s cage on his way to the vet.

Goldie seems like he feels much better now, but it still seems hard for him to pee. But he’s starving! He’s eating and drinking a lot. He’s in a large wire cage till he gets off the medicine. Which he seems ok with sometimes and not ok other times.

I woke up at 2:07AM this morning and have been up ever since. I just couldn’t sleep any more. But I’m tired now…

This weekend marked a year since the passing of Sheba, our beloved pooch. Ironically, our cat Goldie spent the weekend in the veterinarians for some urinary tract problems. He’s coming home today, 100% OK. Probably from now on, all the outdoor cats will get new food, good for their “systems”. I’m surprised that regular cat food (and dog food) is not very good for the animals they were created for.

The home addition construction project, still is not done. Planning has shut down because of this covid 19 thing, and I don’t have the certificate of occupancy and they’re not being processed at this time. The construction team is coming back over today for a few finishing touches and clean up. I just want this all behind me. Keep in mind, it could have been done by Friday, the 13th of December 2019 had not the contractor screwed up on updating of the electrical drawings.

I ordered a new tablet, a Samsung Galaxu S6. Allegedly the best tablet ever created on this planet to date. The optional keyboard didn’t get good reviews, so I plan on using an old bluetooth keyboard I have. Possibly, but doubtfully, the keyboard that I have on my S3 will work on my S6….

Yesterday and today it was cloudy with high clouds and some rain. Weird weather.

I finished Ready Player One, and started “The Art Of Racing in the Rain“. I think I’m about 18% of the way through.

It’s a dogs perspective of living with a family, fully educated and aware, but unable to communicate because his tongue is too big and soft and he doesn’t have opposable thumbs. And the man in the book is a race car driver. Before I started the book I thought it was about a dog who enjoyed being outside in the rain and running really fast.

It’s cute book, not really my thing, but I’m going to delve further into it though.

It’s Friday and it rained this morning, with hopes of more. Had some neighbors ove into the apartment next door and saw them carrying a drum kit inside. Oh joy! Maybe they’ll compete with our other neighbors who blast religious music at 6AM the past two weekends….

I woke up about 15 minutes early this morning, 4:30, and got up. Now I’m slightly ahead of schedule.

I havent much to talk about today. I work, go home, and kill time. I’m re-reading the book, Ready Player One. Although I’ve read it before, parts seem new. It is quite good. And it’s just like the movie, except it’s completely different. I mean, the characters and keys are the same, but the contests and challenges are different.

Had problems with my Amazon Kindle, 2nd generation, couldn’t connect to the computer, so I reset it. then it wouldn’ register, but it’s all good now. I’ve decided I’m going to try and keep it going for as long as I can. Because it’s so old and classic. It has tons of books on it and still plenty of room.

And that’ll do’er for today. Have a good one, stay amused.

On our back porch is a large mostly unused flower pot that I dump coffee grounds and compostable stuff in, eggshells, banana peels etc. It’s good if you ever need a little bit of good dirt for another potted plant. A few years ago, I even found some big earthworms in there, don’t know how they got there, but worms are good for dirt.

Recently, we have had a pretty big plant start growing there from something dumped in the pot. For a long time, there were just big leaves, not coming over the top of the pot. Then, we started getting some big vines coming out of there.

And now they’re getting big pretty flowers.

I don’t know what I dumped in there, but my wife is guessing butternut squash. See the teeny butternut squash? The flower is apparently on the bottom of the squash.

The way I see it, is either we’ll have a whole bunch of butternut squash this summer, or else the vines will take over the whole house and we’ll die. Or both. But I figure if we can survive this co-void virus going around, we can survive some monster invader butternut squashes.

But I’ll keep ya posted. Over n’ Out.

Since my Garmin Vivo died the other day, I’ve turned on my Samsung fitness app tthatt’s on my phone It’s no where near as detailed as the Garmin app, and I have to carry my phone but it does a pretty good job counting steps and I was pretty impressed with it on my bike ride the other day..

Things are opening up here a little. The nightly hard cerfew starts at 8PM instead of 7. Hardware stores are taking orders for delivery. I could use some stuff.

It’s a month of dying electronics. My tabet is giving problems, my Garmin fitness tracker died, my Kindle, (2nd generation) made me do a hard reset and although it works now, I can’t register it to re-downlowd all the books I’ve bought. My wife gave me her old Kindle, but it seems to be dead-dead.

Getting readyy to place an electronics order, I guess.

Last night, almost bedtime, I cleaned the screen of my tablet. This morning, the improvement is shocking. I mean, I must have had an inch or two of fingerprint grease all over my screen. You could see my “connect the dots” security code easily entrenched on the screen. Green moss was getting ready to start growing in the corners.

It’s so clean now! Mustn’t touch it! In five minutes it will be filthy again.

I wanna start riding my bike to work. I’m working on the logistics. Yesterday, I fixed this air pump holder that goes under the water bottle holder. The pump kept falling out. I fixed it by bending the plastic with a hot air gun. I need to come up with a way to carry clothes to work, as well as a shower at work too. Work has a hose outside, and I need to create a shower stall. There’s bushes and a huge air conditioner unit right there, so I think it’s doable.

Yesterday, I went out for a bike ride, I needed a CR2016 battery and wanted to try and find a place a friend discovered last week, Salt Pond in Barkers National Park.

I needed a battery because my watch/fitness tracker died, and I cannot function without a watch. I could not get a new watch or tracker because of the covid shutdown.

All my old watches had dead batteries, but I was lucky, I found the battery I needed for one at the first place I looked, a gas station. Then I went to look for Salt Pond. It was pretty easy to find, thanks to Google Earth, and a screenshot on my phone. I was surprised how nice it was. When I first got there there was a lady setting up for a wedding later in the afternoon, but she left almost as soon as I got there. Below is a video I took while there. I laid on the dock for a while and even had a little swim. Nice with all the beaches shut down.

Another thing that really struck me yesterday, was how much I enjoy riding my bicycle. I often think about riding it to work in the mornings, especially with so little traffic these days.

Yesterday was “Soft Lockdown”, you can go out to exercise for 90 minutes. Today is “Hard Lockdown”, can’t leave your yard.

Also, yesterday was our 11th wedding anniversary. We had a big steak dinner delivered and we ate on the picnic table on our back porch. Quite nice. No TV.
